Strategic Lines for a University Management: Challenges in the XXI Century

Abstract

There is no doubt that public Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) are currently facing several challenges that depend on various factors that force them to consider new management models to improve the quality of the processes of professional training, scientific research, social interaction, postgraduate and institutional management. The objective of the present is to propose a critical reflection that translates into the need for University Education Institutions to fulfill their missions and institutional vision through a strategic direction as a fundamental instrument. On the other hand, regarding the perception of the main results from the use of strategic planning, the central theme evidenced was cultural change, strategic planning allowed a progressive professionalization of management in all areas and at all levels, thus as it has allowed greater flexibility in the decision-making process, facilitating change management in situations in which the institution has to respond quickly.
